DVD
Features
Video:
The widescreen edition is anamorphic at 2.35:1 and has a great
picture throughout even the darkest of scenes.
Audio:
Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS are both available, and each will
knock your socks off. The only problem is that there's actually
too much bass in some scenes, causing me to consider turning
down my sub, and that's not something I consider lightly.
Extras:
A feature packed 2 disc set including deleted scenes,
multiple commentaries and enough making of material to keep
you busy for an entire weekend.

Blade
promised us a guy movie, and delivered on exactly what it promised.
If there had just been some skin, we would have given it a 5th star.
Wesley
Snipes is back as Blade, a half-human, half-vampire creature who
is known as "daywalker" among the vampires for his ability
to survive in sunlight. Blade isn't on good terms with the vamps
since he pretty much hunts them for sport. Sure, there's a motive
there... but let's be serious, he just likes it.
The
movie starts off by reminding us how much of a badass Blade is as
we watch him rescue Whistler (Kris Kristofferson) from the vamps.
Yeah, we though he was dead too, but apparently he didn't kill himself
in the first movie and as captured instead. Doesn't matter, it sets
up some great action and lets Whistler come back for the sequel.
Back
at the Batcave... wait... back at the warehouse we meet Scud, Whistlers
replacement for the last few years. He's a cocky kid, but he does
make some nifty hardware. While everyone gets acquainted the alarm
system goes off, setting up another nice fight sequence. This time
the visitors turn out to be friendly vampires who are asking for
Blade's help in killing a new breed of vampire called "Reapers".
These guys are seriously tough, and quite nasty when they feed.
The
plot is really there just to sting together some fight sequences,
so much so that you start to feel like this movie was made in Hong
Kong. For the most part the fights are excellent, but they did use
a little computer animation in the fights that I found slightly
distracting. Hardly enough to mention here, but I would have preferred
they stick with just using wires. There is also a good amount of
gore in this movie. Blood we expected, but the gore... ever seen
the inside of a mutant vampire?
Don't
bother taking a date unless she's more tolerant of blood and guts
than any girls I've ever met. Grab some friends and head to the
theater, you're gonna have a blast.

Gun Play
Blade
like more than just knives.
Blood & Gore
It's
a vampire movie after all, and they have a twisted method of
fooling around.
Car Chases
Motorcycles,
and they were kinda in a chase.
T&A
Not
unless you count Kris.
Chuckles
Some
good one liners, but mostly a serious movie. |
