Great picture quality and the sound rocks, your subwoofer will certainly get a workout with this movie. The making of special is quite interesting and well done. There is a separate section that deals just with the special effects that lets you watch the various stages in production for several key scenes. The Egyptology 101 item is all text, but has some interesting facts about ancient Egypt. Also, the deleted scenes are interesting to watch, I always like to see what the director cut from a movie though on this disk there isn't a commentary along with it so you don't know why something was cut. - John

The Mummy is a darn good action/horror movie, but doesn't quite pull everything off. For one thing Brendan Fraser is not Harrison Ford no matter how hard he tries. His wisecracks often fall flat and his apparent skills are no match for Indy. OK, so this is really the fault of the writers I guess, but in the next movie they need to give Brendan his own character instead of trying to make another Indy.

Brendan Fraser plays Rick O'Connell, a sometimes explorer who ends up in a jam and is about to be hung. Evelyn (Rachel Weisz) is a librarian who specializes in ancient Egypt and learns that Rick has knowledge of the lost City of the Dead. She bargains for his life in exchange for him taking her to the City.

Once there they discover that O'Connell had inadvertently wakened the 3000 year old mummy when he was last there, and now that he's awake he wants out of his prison. Obviously he escapes or there wouldn't be much of a movie, but this movie is quite predictable to anyone who has ever seen an action movie.

The effects are extremely well done and the acting is OK. I particularly like the scenes at the end, very very good CGI work.

Gun Play

Brendan likes to shoot everything he sees.

Blood & Gore

The Mummy looks great, but he's not actually bloody. It is PG-13 after all.

Car Chases

I would have liked to see the mummy drive a car...

T&A

Very nice outfit at the beginning of the movie, but no actual nudity.

Chuckles

It tries to be funnier than it is.
