American Wedding is the third movie in the American Pie series. We love a good R-rated comedy. And although not quite as smooth as it’s predecessors, this installment doesn’t disappoint.

American Wedding

The entire gang is back for the most part. All of the major characters are back except for Oz and Heather. They weren’t even acknowledged, so we’re guessing their foreheads have now gotten so large that they cant squeeze onto the screen with other actors. We catch up with the rest of the crew just after college graduation on the occasion of Jim’s engagement to flute girl Michelle.

The movie starts a little slow and awkward, but once it gets rolling there are some seriously funny moments. Once again Stiffler, played by Seann William Scott, steals almost every scene he’s in, and that’s a lot of them this time out. These characters truly are timeless, and everyone will find that at least a couple of them remind them of someone they knew in school. We’re just glad to see the writers and producers are letting the characters age instead of trying to pass off these actors as high school kids forever.

What really makes these movies great to us is the fact that they do not stop at the boundary of good taste. They go that extra mile! And that’s something we appreciate. This time out is no exception. Poor Stiffler, that’s all we’ll say to avoid spoiling anything.

American Wedding gets a strong 4 stars from us despite the slow beginning and romantic dreck because of the quality of the laughs. Go see it, and feel free to take a date if she wont be offended by a little crude humor. Is this the last of the series? I dont know. There are remaining possibilities. American Baby? American Divorce? American Male Pattern Baldness: The Search for Oz?
