According to USA Today Episode 3 too violent for the kiddies... Yeah Yeah

Star Wars Preview Audience Warns: Leave the Kids Home
A select group invited to attend a screening of Star Wars: Episode III -- Revenge of the Sith have come away praising the film but expressing doubts that it will attract the huge family audiences that its predecessors did. USA Today cited numerous examples of graphic violence, including one scene in which a character "catches fire, screaming in agony while the flesh peels off his body." The newspaper quotes Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader) as saying that he is unable to predict how audiences will react to the violence. "The first two [episodes] did a lot to create a young fan base," he remarked. "I'm not sure how they're going to react to some of these scenes if they see them."

What does this mean for MFG? It means we will love it even more than we were already expecting to.

As of today we only have 2 weeks until the defining moment of mine and most geeks childhood existence's culminate and we can become reclusive trolls never to be seen again. Sad? A little. True? You know it is.

Yeah, its true, this comment has nothing whatsoever to do with ROTS, though I am more then excited about it. I just wanted to know what happened to the forum? Your readers need a place to converse about the various aspects of MFG.com that we like and dislike. That, and I really wanted to post somewhere about what a fucking moron Chris is. I've enjoyed reading his b-movie critiques up until Vampires 1. In it he referred to From Dusk 'till Dawn as a screw up, a ruined vampire stripper movie attempt. You dumb asshole, FDTD was never even meant to be a vampire stipper movie, it was a kickass action/horror flick, and a damn good one at that. Sure you had Salma as the sexy vampire stripper, but that was barely three minutes of screen time. Anyways, I always thought highly of Dusk as a fun if not quirky movie in the same vein as John Carpenter's Vampires, with a more Tarantino/Rodriguez esque vibe. No longer will I look apon Chris with as much respect. Tis a sad day.

Carter, thanks for your kind words. It's feedback like this that helps me do my job better.

You outted yourself as a Star Wars fan, and I'm sorry you don't have better taste in movies. But that does explain why you would think highly of a piece of cinematic trash like From Dusk Till Dawn.

Whether Rodriguez and Tarantino meant it or not, FDTD is in fact a Vampire Stripper movie because more than fifty percent of the movie takes place inside of a strip club which is populated by vampire strippers. In my book, that qualifies it for the Vampire Stripper genre (even though it gives the genre a bad name.)

Maybe Rodriguez and Tarantino were trying to make a kickass action/horror flick, just like they were trying to make a watchable movie out of the excellent Sin City comic books. Sadly, they failed at both.

Just look at the stats for FDTD:

- Directed by Robert Rodriguez (El Mariachi)

- Written by and starring Quentin Tarantino (Reservoir Dogs)

- Starring Harvey Keitel (Reservoir Dogs, Mean Streets), George Clooney (ER, Return of the Killer Tomatoes!), and Juliette Lewis (Natural Born Killers, Kalifornia)

- Co-starring Fred Williamson, Tom Savini, Cheech Marin, and an extremely hot Salma Hayek

- More than fifty percent of the action takes place in a strip club called The Titty Twister

On paper, From Dusk Till Dawn has the potential to be the greatest movie of all time. Instead, it fails on almost every single level of filmmaking imaginable. And shame on Salma Hayek for not letting her puppies breathe!

Tell you what, Carter... go check out Vamps 2 to see what a real Vampire Stripper movie is all about, and then we'll talk.

Thank you.

Well, Chris, you just lost my love with that ignorant little statement.

Chris my man. I thought it prudent to post again and voice a little more. First off I wanted to apologize for the harsh words I used against you in my first posting. I tend to be a little touchy in defending my favorite filmmakers. Now on to my response to your post. You refer to FDTD as "cinematic trash". Well, in a way, I actually agree with you there. See, FDTD was never meant to be "cinema", it was never meant to be "film". At best its a "movie", I would probably even call it a "flick". There are some movies that are made purely for the escapist entertainment they present the audience with. As a reviewer for a site called Movies For Guys I figured you were aware of that. It confuses me even further as reading your reviews evidence that you are aware of that. FDTD doesn't ask anybody to take it seriously. It simply is what it is. Its well written, darkly humorous, crisply directed, and full of good gooey action. I will concede that you are right about the vampire stripper classification of the movie though, I forgot that the bar they are in is actually a whore house. The only other thing I have to say is that you can't possibly be a fan of Frank Miller if you think the Sin City film was a poor adaptation of the graphic novels. As a huge longtime fan of Miller, that film was spot-fucking-on for accurate portrayal of Millers works. That, and you said you hadn't even SEEN Sin City yet. If you haven't, please go see it and actually get a clue about what you're talking about. If you have seen it, then seriously, what the hell? Other then that, you seem to be a competant reviewer, so keep up the good (mostly) work. Maybe take some cues from Billy Bob, JC, or John. Those guys know their stuff, as a looooong time fan of this site.

Carter
