Kong!
We're getting close to the release of the other really big movie for this holiday season. King Kong opens on 12/14. We're scheduled to see a press screening this week, so we'll have a review up in time for opening day.
Do we need a second remake of the original? I dont know, but given the leaps in graphics and digital characters, I'm curious to see what they can do. Which leads me to something I dont really understand. They've shown us Kong already in the trailers. This seems foolish to me, make me spend money on a ticket to find out what he looks like! But then I guess you have to give it away in the video games and other merchandise anyway.
I hear the runtime on this version is around 3 hours, though I haven't confirmed that. Not that Peter Jackson is a stranger to long movies. Guess it's hard to tell a brief story after doing 3 epic installments of Lord of the Rings. Can you imagine what would happen if Jackson teamed with James Cameron on a film? The directors' cut would be a 10 DVD set.
