The Hills Have (censored) Eyes

This weekend brings us The Hills Have Eyes, a remake of the 1977 Wes Craven flick. Normally we aren't too keen on remakes, but at least Wes is involved in this one so maybe it won't be too bad.

What does annoy us is the rating. While it has an R, it originally received an NC-17 and of course the studio won't release an NC-17 movie. We can't really blame them too much for this though since many theaters still refuse to show NC-17 films and some newspapers won't allow ads for them. It's pathetic when you think about it.

What I wish would happen is that studios would release both versions of the film when situations like this occur. That would allow the smaller independent theaters that aren't afraid of the NC-17 rating to make a lot of money as fans would obviously flock to see the unedited version.

Then again this could all be a bunch of hype to get some attention for the movie and the eventual unrated DVD release.
