Indiana Jones and the Geriatric Curse
Every year we all come across movies that get assigned to that damning category known as "Films that DID NOT need to be made." Today I think I may have found the biggest one to ever belong in that infamous group. Yes, friends, Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg have announced that the script for IJ4 is now complete and filming can now begin.
Ok, first of all, is there any story they can do now that can top their previous efforts? I mean, heck, they went after and found the Holy Freakin' Grail the last time out so what else is there to go after that would have any real meaning to the average moviegoer?
And we need to talk about age here, too. Who here will believe that Harrison Ford (who will be 65 years old when filming begins) could still be a credible action star? For the love of GOD, won't *someone* please tell him he needs to quit trying to pretend he's 30 years old again?!?
One thing I do look forward to with this one is where the politics will come into play. Spielberg just can't make a movie without a political message in it somewhere and you just know there will be one here. Maybe he'll be going after a relic that is discovered only because a glacier melted due to global warming which will, of course, be the fault of evil corporations and George Bush. Indy might be opposed by Dick Cheney's cronies from Halliburton, who wish to obtain the relic for themselves so they can give it to Pat Robertson who plans to use it to take over the world and establish a tyranical theocracy! *bah* I am SO over these guys.
