Saw 3 poster is out

It's hot outside, so obviously it's the perfect time to start hyping this Halloween's Saw movie. We're doing our part by sharing the first poster image with you.. it's good, but not great.

Does remind me that I need to make a dental checkup appointment though.

Blade on Spike

Just a last second reminder that Blade starts tonight at 10PM on Spike.

Superman, IMAX and 3-D

In case you haven't heard, Superman comes out tomorrow on IMAX at the same time it's hitting theaters (actually it's tonight at 10PM in some areas.) Not only that, portions of the movie have been converted to 3-D.

Now, this is IMAX 3-D which I'll admit does rock, but I'm concerned about taking a movie shot normally and throwing in some 3-D just for the effect. Will it take away from the story? Will it just be a distraction? Or, in a popcorn movie such as Superman will it just be a little extra flash to help justify that IMAX ticket price?

If any of you happen to see the IMAX 3-D version of Superman in the next few days, please post your thoughts on it over in our forum. We'd love to know what you think of it.

Dead Man's Hand

HBO came up with something amusing to promote the new season of Deadwood, an online poker game you play with your browser. It's pretty graphically intensive for a web based game, quite impressive actually, but you'll need to install some new plugins to make it work.

If you go through the process and can figure out how the hell to beat Al, let me know. He ends up shooting me every time regardless of what I do.

Magnum PI Quick Contest

Time for another unannounced contest, this time it's for the second season of Magnum P.I. on DVD.

The rules this time.. I'll choose a random name from the first 15 entries. The winner will get an email from me tomorrow morning by 10am EDT. The Descent

The Descent heads to theaters this August and while I'm a little wary of it being called "the best horror-thriller since alien" it still looks pretty good to me. Not so sure about the poster though, I think they tried too hard.

Directed by Marshall from his own script, it tells the story of an all-female caving expedition that goes horribly wrong, and stars Shauna Macdonald, Natalie Mendoza, Alex Reid, Saskia Mulder, Nora-Jane Noone and Myanna Buring. Set in a cave system deep in the Appalachian Mountains, Marshall describes his film as "DELIVERANCE goes underground".
