Ford Speaks About Indy 4

I sense a broken hip in Ford's future...

Harrison Ford says he feels "fit to continue" to play Indiana Jones despite growing older.

Ford, 64, said at the inaugural Rome Film Festival on Friday that he was delighted to team up again with directors Steven Spielberg and George Lucas for the film. Lucas co-wrote and executive produced the earlier films, which Spielberg directed.

"We did three films that stay within the same block of time. We need to move on for artistic reasons and obvious physical reasons," Ford said at a news conference. "I feel fit to continue and bring the same physical action."

"Indiana Jones 4" has been in development for over a decade, but the production has recently gained momentum. Lucas has said he and Spielberg, who would direct, are working on a script, though no details have been disclosed.

Ford played Indiana Jones in 1981's "Raiders of the Lost Ark," 1984's "Temple of Doom" and 1989's "The Last Crusade." In the last film, Jones' father was played by Sean Connery, who Ford said might also appear in the planned fourth feature.

"He's part of the emotional fabric of these films. I think there may be an opportunity, I believe that Sean is still willing and I'd be delighted if he joined us," said Ford.

Connery, who attended the Rome event last week, has said that no offer had been made.

Ford declined to provide details about a shooting schedule or film locations, adding that the directors were not yet finished with the script.

"I think it's a real opportunity to make a film as successful ... as the ones we've made before," he said.

Eddie Murphy: Human STARSHIP

I sense another failure...

The comic has the science fiction comedy in preproduction at 20th Century Fox, and Brian Robbins is set to direct.

It's clear that Eddie Murphy likes the idea of science fiction comedies, but they haven't usually worked for him. One need only look at his nearly career-ending turn in Pluto Nash. Nevertheless, he's going to boldly go once again. Daily Variety reports Murphy is set to star in Starship Dave, to be produced by Deep River Productions and Guy Walks Into a Bar, with Brian Robbins directing.

Robbins is just off the remake of Disney's The Shaggy Dog. Murphy and Robbins worked together on Norbit, which is still in the pipeline. Robbins was offered the script when Pete Segal had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts. He's over at Warner Bros. now, working up a film revival of Get Smart.

But Back to Starship Dave: Murphy isn't just a Starship Captain in the movie, he IS Starship Dave. The comedy surrounds a group of tiny aliens who travel the universe within a human starship, seeking a way to save their own threatened world. Starship Dave will begin its journey in front of the cameras beginning in March.

Chan's growth "stunted" by Hollywood rules

Jackie Chan, famous for his daredevil stunts, says he's frustrated by Hollywood's safety rules.

"There are so many safety and insurance rules to follow," Chan said in an interview on his Web site Sunday. "I know that they want to make sure that I'm safe when I do my stunts, but sometimes they insist that I use protective gear for even simple things, and that is frustrating. It takes so much time."

Chan, best known in the United States for the "Rush Hour" movies with Chris Tucker, said he feels less encumbered when making films in Hong Kong.

"In Hong Kong we just go ahead and do what needs to be done. There is no safety captain on the set. I use my own stunt team because they have experience and I trust them to make the action and stunts safe," he said. Chan, 52, also said that when he first broke into Hollywood, he'd had little control over his own moves, even though he'd been choreographing stunts for decades in Hong Kong. But that that has changed over time.

"When I first started making Hollywood films, the directors wouldn't listen to anything I said when it came to the action," he said. "It's different now; the directors respect me and listen to me. Over the years I have gotten more involved in the planning of the action and stunts on my American movies and that makes me happy. But mostly it is difficult."

Rob Zombie Wins 'Chainsaw' Movie Award

Rocker-turned-director Rob Zombie picked up a Chainsaw Award for his horror flick "The Devil's Rejects." The "Killer Movie" award, presented Sunday night to Zombie by Robert "Freddy Kruger" Englund, was part of the first televised "fuse Fangoria Chainsaw Awards" to honor the best films and actors in the horror genre.

Zombie's wife, Sheri Moon, and actor Bill Moseley won the "Relationship From Hell" award for "The Devil's Rejects."

"Saw II" also won two awards, for "Best Butcher" (best villain) and "Looks that Kill" (best makeup).

The awards ceremony was held at the Orpheum Theatre and will be broadcast Oct. 22 on fuse Television.

Free Screening of Jackass 2

As promised, we've wrangled up a free screening of Jackass 2 for you guys!

On Wednesday September 20 at the Lefont theater in Sandy Springs you and a friend can be our guest for a special sneak preview of what's sure to be a great flick. That is, it's sure to be a great flick if you're a guy and not some lame ass critic who doesn't know the meaning of the word "fun".

Come out and meet JC who will be at the screening giving away some MFG swag. Course, you might have to do a little something or answer a question to get a T-Shirt, and we can promise you that if you bring a hot date your odds of getting the answers right will go way up. We do have some MFG thongs if any ladies would like to do a little modeling...

We've got a stack of tickets but you need to hurry, deadline is this Friday at midnight so that we can get them mailed out Saturday morning.

Blade The Series

In case you failed to take our advice back in the ealry spring and you missed out on this very cool new series on Spike, here's your chance to correct that over sight. This weekend on Spike (check your local cable listings for correct channel and times) they will show the first 12 episodes as a lead in to the upcoming season finale this Wednesday.

I was one of the strongest haters I know when it came to this show so I have to apologize when I said earlier 'our advice', since that would be John alone that suggested we watch it. I saw the pilot and I guess subconsciously I kept looking for Wesley Snipes and when he didn't show up I lost interest, but I kept watching and now I really dig on it. Blade is a solid action show with lots of violence and profanity so it should be perfect for any fan of this site. Now, I realize this is opening weekend for the NFL so I doubt you will watch anything other than football but that doesn't mean you can't let the DVR do the heavy lifting for you and catch up before Wednesday.

No excuses, just record it and watch it.

Will The Covenant Totally Suck?

Damn. Summer is over and our Friday night choices are going to be slim for awhile. This weekend is a perfect example... our only choice is The Covenant, a movie we wouldn't waste our time with were it released in July.

Oh well, no use in moaning about it. The Covenant might not totally suck, the effects look decent if the trailer is to be believed. The story is the typical "I'm a powerful teenager and you're not" kind of thing and the PG-13 rating means the best we can hope for is a glimpse of Laura Ramsey's backside. We'll draw straws and see which one of us is taking this bullet for you.

Steve Irwin Killed By Stingray

Anyone who watched Steve Irwin do his thing on TV knew it was just a matter of time before a mistake happened and he got killed, but who would have predicted it would be a stingray? Steve was filming a scene for "Oceans Deadliest" about stingrays when he swam a little too close. The ray flexed it's stinger and hit Steve right in the chest, putting a hole in his heart.

We'll miss Steve and his attitude towards nature, but at least he got to go out doing something he loved. If you have it on your shelf, go watch Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course and raise a beer in memory of Mr. Irwin.

Crank opens Friday

The end of summer officially happens this weekend but at least we get a good guy movie to help us end it. Well, we think it looks good, we haven't actually seen the thing yet. What we do know is Jason Statham can drive like a mofo (and we still want that Audi), the movie is rated R for violence, language, sex and nudity, and we'd like to see Amy Smart naked.

Hopefully this will all work out.

If not you can always go see The Wicker Man though don't keep your hopes up on that one. We like Nicolas Cage but when the "screening" is at 10PM the night before it opens, we have to wonder why the studio doesn't want us seeing this thing far enough in advance to let you know what we think.

Saw III preview at Crank screenings

As if we needed another reason to go see Crank when it comes out September 1st, Lionsgate has decided to show moviegoers the full opening scene of Saw III.

If what I'm reading is true this will be the full unedited scene, blood and all.

So if you're not into horror you might want to close your eyes at the beginning... maybe send your date out to get you a fresh popcorn or something.

The Quiet

So I'm sitting in the theater watching trailers before The Descent starts and I see the "Sony Classic Pictures" screen come up. Obviously they targeted this trailer poorly.. yep.. some teenage drama thing, but at least Elisha Cuthbert is in it and and DAMN is she hot.

Wait... Elisha is hitting on her dad? What's she gonna do with that iron?! And those blue shorts!! Yowza!

OK, so maybe they got their target market right after all. Check out the trailer and see if you agree.

Shrek 3

We love the green guy as much as anyone else, but when we got an email announcement about the web site for the third installment we we're hoping for a trailer or something. Nope, just a little bit of movement. Still, we're looking forward to the movie.

On a side note, if you go to Google then click on images and do a search for "Shrek 3" with safesearch turned off... cover your eyes.

It's finally Snakes on a Plane week

We've been low key about it since every other site on the planet has been going on and on and on about Snakes on a Plane, but now that it's almost here we can't contain ourselves any longer.

The movie might suck, it could be the worst in Mr. Jackson's career... and we'd probably still like it due to the premise alone. I mean come on, it's Snakes on a Mother F-in Plane!

There aren't any screenings for this one that I'm aware of so we'll have to turn in our thoughts on Friday. Stay tuned to find out if it's worth the hype or not.

Super Hero Movies: The Human Side

Studios have pretty much gobbled up every comic book title out there. CGI technology has evolved to the point that comic book action can be brought to the big screen and look darned good. This summer we've had another installment of the Xmen and the man of steel has also returned to the big screen with amazing visuals.

Superman got me to thinking though. This year's Superman is perhaps a bit more human than previous incarnations. He stalks Lois Lane and checks her out with his xray vision. Hey, dont judge, you know you'd do the same thing! I mean the poor guy hasn't had any for over 5 years, now he's back, she's looking all hot, of course he's gonna sneak a peek with those xray eyes.

But here's where my mind started to wonder....what other really human issues does Superman and other super heroes deal with on a daily basis. I mean does the "man of steel" wake up with a blue steel pee boner in the morning? And if so does he use his power of flight to get upside down to aim at the toilet or does he just ricochet it off the ceiling?

Here are some of my other thoughts:

What happens if the Hulk eats a huge bowl of chili? This may be yet another reason his pants have to be very flexible and nearly indestructable.

You know Wolverine has to be VERY careful when he gets a little stink finger.

Spiderman is out web slinging all night, you know he has to stop and take a dump occasionally. Does that suit have a trap door?

Imagine the blue flamers that Johnny Torch can light at will...

Ben Grimm....when he takes a crap, is it a pile of rocks?

And I dont even want to think about Wonder Woman on PMS....

Why Box Office Numbers Are Dropping

We've discussed this and had various rants before, but here we are in the middle of another summer movie season and watchin the studios blame anything from the internet to sunspots on why people aren't going to the movies in the numbers they used to. We have tons of great movies out this summer, and only Pirate of the Carribean: Dead Man's Chest is performing up to lofty expectations.

I was reminded of exactly what the real problem was when I finally took in Superman Returns a couple of weeks ago. This is a great movie, one of the best this summer. It's numbers have to be disappointing. I missed the preview and opening weekend, so I went to see it only a couple of weekends after the initial release. It was barely still in the local 20 screen megaplex. It was showing in a closet in the back corner. Seriously, this auditorium, and I use that term loosely, only had 10 rows....10, no exaggeration.

This was a midnight show. Why do I like midnight shows? Easy, fewer kids and babies. But wouldn't ya know it, the movies is 10 minutes in and here comes baby mama and her daddy babies in to slip in and catch a second show after already sitting thru a 10PM showing of another film. Fortunately they didn't sit close, but in that theater, it was still close enough that I had to hear it, for the entire movie. Someone went to complain to the manager, but the 16 year old manager wasn't much for confrontation, he offered a free pass for next visit instead of fixing the problem.

So why do people not want to shell out $8-10 each for a movie, plus concession prices? Simple, the theater experience isn't special any more, and in fact is often overall inferior to the home experience. We're now living with generations of kids who have had movies used as a babysitter, they have no clue they're supposed to be quiet.

Meanwhile, at home, screen sizes are getting larger and sharper. DVD's are coming out sooner. You can get the same viewing ratio and sharpness, more comfortable seats, cheaper and better munchies, and if anyone opens their mouth you can smack the back of their head without goin to jail or throw them out yourself.

Wanna fix it? Dont blame the internet. Really guys, people are not sneaking in and taping entire movies on their cellphone and ruining your box office that way. No, it's mostly the fact that people wont sit down, shut up and watch the movie. The fix is easy, add one more cheap minimum wage employee per every 3 or 4 screens, and this time dont make him manager, make him an usher. All he has to do is go from auditorium to auditorium and spend 10 minutes or so at a time in each. The people in that theater who are driving the rest of the patrons nuts will reveal themselves in that time. Ask 'em to be quite or leave.

Who cares if they never come back. If they dont, perhaps the people looking for a place to take a date or who genuinely enjoy movies will come back. Myself, I've gone from seeing at least one movie per week to seeing no more than one per month.

When all else fails.. bribe 'em!

This time I'm talking about iKlipz, the latest site to let you post videos on the web for the world to see. The difference with iKlipz is that they want to specialize in full stories, even full length movies when possible. To this end, they are having a contest to give away some pretty sweet stuff to the most popular films on their site.

And I do mean sweet stuff. How about a Sony HD Camcorder? A mini-DV cam? A CyberShot camera?

If you've got any skillz to speak of head on over and post your video for the world to see. If you suck, post it anyway... you might get lucky.

When I read the official description provided by Sony, it didn't really do much for me. But, I went ahead and watched the trailer anyway and now I'm slightly interested. Teen angst with some super powers thrown in, might be ok.

NBC puts The Office on the web

In a brilliant move to bolster their audience before the start of the fall season, NBC has shot an episode of The Office that's being broken up into small 2-3 minute chunks and is putting them on the web each Thursday for the rest of the summer.

There's $3000 missing from the books! So where did it go?! Tune in each week and watch the short segments during a smoke break (you know, the breaks that smokers get but the rest of us don't.)

If you haven't gotten hooked on this show yet, this is a good way to get the idea without having to block off 30 minutes in your hectic schedule. If you can't spare 3 minutes, you need to re-evaluate your life.

New Descent Poster

The studio just released a new poster for The Descent and I think they did a much better job with this one. It gets across the idea of being alone, afraid, in water.. blood.. and a pretty girl.

Transformers

Snakes on a Plane

So far we've avoided talking about Snakes on a Plane even though we just know this is an instant cult classic. Why resist? Well, everyone else is talking about it so you don't need to hear us do it as well.

But screw it, this movie is gonna rock so it's time to start mentioning it. :)

The full trailer still isn't out yet but you can get a feel for just how stupid.. mmm.. rockin this movie is gonna be at the Yahoo preview page.

Saw 3 poster is out
