Clerks
Rated R
Runtime: 1 hr 32min
Starring: Brian O'Halloran, Jeff Anderson

MFG Rating: 4/5

This is a thinking mans comedy which gets its laughs from intensely clever dialogue rather than from slapstick style humor. If you enjoy the comic rantings of Dennis Miller, then you are going to love this movie.

The story centers around Dante (Brian O'Halloran), a convenience store worker who is awaken early one morning by his boss who wants him to open up the store on his day off in place of another employee who called in sick. The boss promises to be in to relieve Dante by noon as Dante has a hockey game at 2PM. Being the responsible type, Dante agrees.

The day starts off with Dante unable to open the shutters due to gum shoved into the locks... and goes downhill from there. He has to deal with guys dealing drugs in front of the store, someone trying to keep people from smoking, a guy looking for the perfect dozen eggs and so on.

You might think this sounds boring, but trust me, it's not. The witty dialogue between Dante and Randall (Jeff Anderson) the guy who works at the video store across the street is priceless. Soon you too will find yourself pondering the fate of the independent contractors working on the Death Star.

Oh, and try not to get sick when you find out what "Snowballing" is.
