movie review Moving
Rated NR
Runtime: 1hr 40min
Starring: L. Derek Leonidoff, Terry Jernigan

MFG Rating: 4/5

DVD Features

Video: It's not a DVD. It's a VHS tape. If there were a DVD I'd buy it too.

Audio: Yes, It had audio. It's actually got a pretty decent soundtrack that's chock full of unknown artists but it fits the movie perfectly. If you heard groups you'd recognize it just wouldn't be "right".

Extras: Bloopers at the end of the tape.

Usually when you come across an "indie flick" you know it's going to be really dull and boring or just totally off the wall. Moving is definitely the latter. The Friedman Brothers have definitely created an hour and forty minutes of pure entertainment here.

L. Derek Leonidoff is a convincing main character (Ron) and really does make you understand exactly what it feels like to be "doomed". Terry Jernigan plays a very convincing nut (John) who reminds me of David Hasslehoff except that he's exactly the way you wish David Hasslehoff was instead of the way he really is.

Anyway... Ron's house gets stolen and Ron sets off with him to help him find it. Together, helped (or hindered?) by a ZZ Top look-a-like and an ex-commando named Jaques, Ron and John follow a long and winding road through a trail of flea-markets that leads them to a spaghetti-like bowl of Mafia ties. Leonardo DiCaprio never looked so good.

It's simply amazing that something like this could be put together for $8200. You couldn't buy the doughnuts used on the last filming of Star Wars Episode II for that. God bless digital video. Fun fun fun.

Do they ever find home? What are the Hare Krishna's all about? What is Moving? Sorry... you're just gonna have to track this one down and check it out.

Vital Stats

Less
More

Gun Play

Yes! Guns & Grenades. (not a lot of explosions though)

Blood & Gore

This is mostly due to one really good fight scene. Also, even though we don't see the blood, repeatedly kicking someone in the nuts has got to count for something.

Car Chases

Well... ok... one getaway and some good car scenes.

T&A

Two hot chicks in a convertible.

Chuckles

Laughed almost the whole way through.
