Have you ever wondered what working in the porn industry would really be like? After watching "The Girl Next Door," I feel that I now know more than I ever wanted to. Christine Fugate directs this (dare I say it?) revealing look into the wild & woolly world of adult movies by following the life and times of porn starlet Stacy Valentine. One of my concerns before watching it was that the movie would end up being biased, for good or for bad, towards Stacy and the industry she is in. Thankfully, the reality is that the movie stays pretty darn neutral and neither condones Stacy's lifestyle nor condemns it. Over a period of many weeks, we get to see Stacy filming many movies, dating, and doing several things that porn stars must do for their careers (including going under the knife). We also get to see that the people, regardless of their chosen profession, are still normal people with normal problems and weaknesses. This is definitely a gem of a film that I'm going to have to buy as soon as it hits the video market. I can truthfully say that I'll never be able to look at my stack of smut tapes again in quite the same way! - Alex
