Drop Dead Gorgeous
December 10, 2004
Rated: PG-13 Runtime: 97 min Rating: 1 out of 5 stars
This teenie bopper beauty queen movie gets only one star from me. It is filmed in a documentary format with interviews that completely interrupt what little show there is. If you saw the previews, you saw the only funny parts. Set in Mount Rose, Minnesota we watch a back-stabbing bunch of teenage girls along with the head leader of the contest (Kirstie Alley as Gladys Leeman,a former title holder herself) fight their way to becoming number one, the Mount Rose Miss Teen Princess American.
Daughter of Gladys is Becky Leeman starring (Denise Richards) who plans on being the winner no matter what and trying her best to scare Amber Atkins (Kirsten Dunst) into quitting. The mother daughter duo stop at nothing to get at Amber and all the other contestants. Ellen Barkin stars as the trailer trash mother to Amber and is bent on her winning so she can make it out of their pitiful trailer, out of Mount Rose and to her dream as a TV reporter like Diane Sawyer.
If you feel the extreme need to see a very lame beauty contest of teenage gun-toting, lip-synching, only American made goods buying, ridiculous girls and their mothers/sponsors then this is your time, your moment! Rush out to see this flick but don’t say I didn’t warn you in advance.
Seen it? How many stars do you give it?
