Who you gonna call? Ahh.. who can forget this movie? Ray Parker Jr’s infectious title track and the state of the art special effects along with a top notch comic cast created a movie that became a legend.
Three scientist get fired from their jobs at a New York City university and decide to try going into business for themselves. Being parapsychologist, they naturally become professional transient spirit removers… Ghostbusters!
At first business is predictibly slow, but it seems there’s trouble afoot in the spiritual world and it’s starting in Dana Barrett’s (Sigourney Weavers) apartment! While putting up her groceries Dana is startled to see a dozen eggs cook themselves on her kitchen counter. Hearing a noise from her refrigerator, she cautiously opens it to investigate. Instead of food she sees a bull-like creature snarling at her. Time to seek professional help!
At first the boys are skeptical, but a little research shows that the buiding Dana lives in has been constructed in such a way to concentrate spirtual energy and the hot spot is you know where.
This DVD is a wonderful presentation of the movie, with a bright anamorphic transfer and tons of extras. There are two “making of..” featurettes, deleted scenes, directors commentary presented in the style of MST3K and productions notes displayed as subtitles which reminded me of Pop Up Video on VH-1.
Seen it? How many stars do you give it?
