GI Jane is pretty standard fare as far as an action/drama movie goes. Demi Moore plays Lt. Jordan O’Neil, a Navy intelligence officer who would really like to get some combat experience in order to advance her career. Unfortunately for her the Navy doesn’t allow women into combat positions which obviously hinders her goals.

Enter Senator Lillian DeHaven (Anne Bancroft) who wants to see women get more chances in the military. She strikes a deal with the Navy to run a woman through combat training to see how she does, and if she does well other women will be allowed to go through the same training.

I don’t need to spell out the rest of the story and its quite formulatic. That’s not a bad thing though as this is a pretty fun movie to watch. Demi Moore buffed up quite a bit for this role and seeing her workout in a thin white top is very much worth watching.
