The Force is not strong in this one. I was expecting a chick flick that wasn’t too hard on the guys forced to watch it with their dates, but unfortunately this movie isn’t even that good.
Liam Neeson play an undercover DEA agent who has gotten a bad case of the heevy-jeevies and wants to be taken off his current assignment early so that he can retire. His superiors aren’t willing to give up a long term setup though, so he’s forced to continue on his current case.
By chance he becomes acquainted with a Psychiatrist who he immediately starts seeing to try and quell his fears. Another side effect of his stress is that he can’t control his bowels, which does make for a few amusing stomach grumbling/flatulence scenes. To help stop his intestinal problems his shrink sends him to get a good old fashion enema.
Enter Sandra Bullock, who is the medical assistant that gets to stick a tube up Liams rear. Of course they hit it off and become an item, or there wouldn’t be a heart in the movies logo.
The real star of the movie is Oliver Platt who plays a mobster who really doesn’t like his job very much, even though he’s quite good at it. Oliver has some pretty funny scenes but it’s not nearly enough to make this movie worth watching.
To sum it up, if there’s no other movies in the theater that you haven’t seen or don’t want to see again… and your date really wants to see this one, go ahead. You aren’t gonna like it much, but there are at least a few amusing scenes to keep it from being a complete waste of time. And who knows… you might get lucky afterwards.
Seen it? How many stars do you give it?
