High Fidelity

Total dreck. Long, boring, wordy and full of itself… not the way to make a comedy.

John Cusack plays Rob, a record store owner who doesn’t do too well at keeping girlfriends. The entire movie is about his attempt to reconcile this fact while at the same time he tries to get his latest girlfriend back. Whatever, what it really means is that the movie is extremely wordy, and boring. Hey, I don’t mind wordy movies. Clerks is one of my all time favorites and it’s almost pure dialogue. The difference is that its good dialogue.

I have to admit that I’m amazed at the number of positive reviews this movie is getting in the mainstream press. They tend to go on about what a wonderful performance John Cusack gave. Well sure, he did do a fine job, everyone in the movie did a fine job, but it still sucked!

I would have much rather sat through The Road to El Dorado with it’s “six new songs” and screaming kiddies than to have sat through High Fidelity. It was that bad.

Guys, your girlfriends won’t like it either so don’t think to yourself that you’ll put up with it and maybe score some points with her. She’s just gonna be pissed that you took her to such a piece of junk and you’ll be left high and dry.

Seen it? How many stars do you give it?
