Kettle Cadaver: A Taste of Blood

December 11, 2004

Rated: NR Runtime: 20 min Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Kettle Cadaver is one of those bands that few outside the local underground scene would ever get the chance to experience were it not for the internet. Distributors likely wouldn’t touch this stuff with a 10 foot pole. Tipper Gore would likely be speaking in tongues less than 2 minutes into this DVD.

They call their music “horror rock”, and I cant think of a better description. The music is very heavy, the type of stuff that can make your neck ache from banging your head so hard. But the real fun here is the stage show. It goes beyond gross and nasty, I would call it downright vile at times.

I wouldn’t want to spoil the DVD for anyone, but to give you a taste of what you’re going to see, I’ll hit a couple of highlights. Let’s start with the fact that the vocalist likes to perform wearing nothing but a board nailed to his nads. Now lest you think this is faked somehow, on the DVD we get to watch him hammer it on backstage. You’ll get to see lots of blood, nudity and even what I can only classify as some sort of necrobeastiality.

The production values are what you would expect from home grown stuff. Some of the songs did actually have us bobbing our heads. But this DVD has been in high demand ever since it hit our office. It has a train wreck appeal beyond imagination. Because of the “hey, you gotta see this!” nature of the DVD, we give it 4 stars. Be warned though, if you have a weak stomach or are easily offended, stay away from it. Otherwise, you’ll find ordering information on their website.

Seen it? How many stars do you give it?
