Me, Myself and Irene

Those darned Farrelly Brothers have done it again. The guys who brought us There’s Something About Mary and Dumb & Dumber are back. This time they’ve again teamed with Jim Carrey in his return to the type of comedy that made him one of the biggest stars in Hollywood. If you didn’t enjoy the two aforementioned movies, stop reading now as you aren’t going to like this one either.

Me, Myself and Irene

Still with me? Ok, then you obviously know how to relax and enjoy a good comedy no matter how silly it may get or how hard it tries to offend you. Let’s face it, the Farrelly Brothers are about as subtle as a chainsaw and just when you think they wouldn’t dare show something on screen, they do. If you enjoy their work, you’re going to love this movie.

In their latest comedy, we get to meet Charlie Bailygates, played by Jim Carrey. Charlie is a Rhode Island State Trooper and one heck of a swell guy. He’s totally polite and nice no matter what happens to him. However, all of that being nice and turning the other cheek has been boiling up inside of him and bubbles up to the surface in the form of his schizophrenic anti-self Hank Evans. Hank is the opposite of Charlie in every way, he’s confrontational and generally a total jerk. Hank is the kinda guy who would take icecream from a small child, literally.

Through some plot twists he, err they, end up paired with Irene and as you might expect end up in a bit of an adventure. Irene is played by the incredibly cute Renee Zellweger. Unfortunately she teases us throughout the entire movie by constantly showing us her very tempting bare belly but never let’s us see anything more.

We thoroughly enjoyed this movie and had some really good quality laughs. Carrey is perfect for these kinds of roles, and he does not disappoint. This movie is exactly what you expect based on the trailers. We’ve been torn as to whether to give it 4 stars or 5, and this is the type of movie that really makes us contemplate using half stars. We finally settled on 4 stars as it does have a few slow spots and isn’t quite as relentless with the laughs as “Mary”. But it’s darned close. Dont miss this one!

Seen it? How many stars do you give it?
