Miss Congeniality

Let me start out by saying that this is a great date movie, which is exactly how this film should be used. If you’re getting together with a bunch of the guys and suggest going to this movie, they’re gonna think you’ve lost your mind.

Miss Congeniality

Sandra Bullock plays tough-girl FBI agent Gracie Hart who really is “one of the guys”. This is one of the harder parts to let yourself believe in the movie. Sure… they need an agent who could look the part of a beauty contestant and they can’t think of a single agent who is available and could pull it off. All this while Hart is standing right next to them. Uh-huh. Anyway, they need her to go undercover as a pageant contestant in order to find a terrorist who has threatened to pull off some evil deed during the live telecast.

What follows isn’t hard to guess. Hart undergoes a rather amusing makeover at the hands of a pageant consultant (Michael Caine), gets in the pageant, and starts to look for clues. I won’t say any more about the plot, but I bet you could finish the storyline for me without any help at all.

So it’s not an award winning movie, that much is certain. Also, its not a “guy” movie in that you shouldn’t be seeing this one alone. But if you do have a date you can round up for a evening at the movies, put this one high on your list to see. Its funny, non-offensive, slightly romantic and easy to follow. What more could you ask from a date-flick?

Seen it? How many stars do you give it?
