DVD Quick Take
If you somehow end up with this DVD, just watch the trailer and then use it for a frisbee or a coaster or something. There are a couple of laughs, but they’re all in the trailer. Everything else is just dreck.
The story, for lack of a more appropriate word, is about a bunch of African-Americans who move from the ghetto to the suburbs. Somehow though the suburbs they found seem to be alot like the ‘hood thus totally nullifying the entire premise. It gets worse from there. There are weak attempts at ethnic and drug related humor, but I dont think I even cracked a smile once.
The quality of the DVD itself is “ok” in all regards. It is anamporphically enhanced, though there’s nothing really happening on the screen to make you enjoy it. The Dolby Digital 5.1 track is also just “ok” at best. They give us a few fly overs and such and occasionally wake up the subwoofer with some bass, but I think we were supposed to be listening to the awful dialog instead.
This movie isn’t so bad that it would inspire me to use violence to avoid watching it again, but rest assured I’ll never do it voluntarily. My advice is to skip this one.
Seen it? How many stars do you give it?
