Poltergeist

It’s yet another 25th Anniversary Edition of a classic movie. This time, however, although the movie is still timeless, the rest of the DVD (what there is) is pretty pathetic.
Poltergeist was a 1982 runaway hit produced by Steven Spielberg and directed by Tobe Hooper. There’s not a lot of point in reviewing it since I’d dare say that virtually anyone reading this has seen this movie at least once in their life and most everyone loved it.
After having refreshed my memories with a viewing of this anniversary edition, however, I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to relive the experience. It has been restored and remastered and it looks great; almost as if it was fresh off the original reel. The evil tree, the clown, the TV people, the tennis balls, the steak; it’s all here and looking better than ever.
Once you’ve watched the movie, however, there’s virtually nothing else on the disc. The only thing there is a generic documentary on real-life poltergeists. You’d think they could have at least included a trailer or maybe a blooper or two.
But despite the lack of extras, you do have the most important thing on the disk - a darn fine movie. If you have a big screen at home, the enhanced quality of this remastering is worth going out and grabbing…even if you have an older DVD of it sitting around somewhere.
Seen it? How many stars do you give it?
