DVD Features

Video: Widescreen enhanced and absolutely outstanding video quality. Excellent color and contrast and the special effects come across just as brilliant as they did on the big screen.

Audio: The Dolby Digital 5.1 track is one of the best I've ever heard. Surround sound is used well with excellent use of spatial effects. This movie is loaded with low frequency effects and will definitely go boom.

Extras: This is a 2 disc "special edition" with the second DVD being nothing but extras. There is an absolute ton of "making of" type stuff all presented in some very cute featurettes. There's also production stills, trailers, director's commentary and all of the usual stuff you'd expect.

DVD Quick Take

One of the largest action, sci-fi, special effects movies of alltime has finally come to DVD! Was it worth the wait? You bet! This is arguably the best DVD I've seen so far.

I haven't seen a movie more deserving of it's THX rating as both the video and audio in this one are just absolutely stunning. You'll want to view this one in a totally dark room and with the volume cranked to truly enjoy everything this movie has to offer. If you have a subwoofer, you may wanna put your animals outside otherwise they may be terrified by the end of the flick due to the boom factor.

If you somehow spent the summer of 1996 under a rock and somehow missed the largest grossing movie of that year, this is the story of what happens when the Earth is visited by some rather unfriendly aliens who start blowing up major cities. What ensues is a true action and special effects spectacle.

This DVD set is quite simply a must have. Run, dont walk, to buy this one. Or better yet, save some bucks and get it delivered right to your door from Amazon.
