DVD Quick Take
This is a Quentin Tarantino movie that is not a Quentin Tarantino film. It is part of what is a loose trilogy written by Tarantino consisting of Reservoir Dogs, True Romance and Pulp Fiction. Quentin sold this story in order to get the money to do Pulp Fiction. So although this one is directed by Tony Scott of Top Gun fame, it becomes very obvious from the story and the dialog that this is pure Tarantino.
The story is a romance in a twisted kinda way. Clarence meets Alabama and marries her, but their life quickly gets all screwed up as they end up being pursued by the mob. The story is basically just an excuse to showcase some good quality dialog interlaced with violence. Not that we have any problem with that!
This is an excellent movie with an allstar cast making appearances during different segments of the movie. The quality of the DVD is excellent even though a bit dated. You wont get alot of extras, but this is the director’s cut. I really wish that they would remaster this movie and release it with Dolby Digital 5.1 and widescreen enhanced, but as is it is still an excellent reproduction of a great movie.
Seen it? How many stars do you give it?
